It was the same way when my cousin contacted me about Egypt tours with her that I went with closed eyes – just like you will after reading this post. I have always been fascinated by Ancient Egypt and thought it would be cheap to visit the Pyramids, the Tutankhamen mask, and all those people from the past.
As part of this post, you will read about the temple of Isis, which is well placed among the top six!
During those 18 days, Egypt was consecrated to become one of the most memorable experiences of my life. The trip where I took the best photographs and had the most memorable experiences. That is to say, only one of them had to do with the Pyramids of Egypt, despite them being one of the country’s greatest attractions.
The political confusion that settled there later really saddened me, and I hoped that it would soon pass because Egypt deserves to be seen and visited by the world, especially since it has such a rich history and a charming people.
As a result, I have selected the “top 6” destinations and experiences that would make the best travel experiences and organized them into this post.
1. Abu Simbel
Among the world’s most famous attractions are the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx, but it is the Abu Simbel Temple that brings the lowest level of admiration from the widest range of people. It is believed there are four or three-and-a-half effigies of Pharaoh Ramses II (the most “bamboo” king of Ancient Egypt) carved in stone. It’s not enough to be egocentric like the Pharaohs! If you visit Abu Simbel, we challenge you not to let out a WOW in the face of such beauty. There are a lot of different tour packages offered by companies like Nile Cruise Vacation to suit every budget.
2. Philae Temple – or Temple of Isis
To visit Abu Simbel Temple, you must set up a base in the city of Aswan and then plan your trip to also include this temple, which is right in the city and easier to reach. There is no doubt that this is one of the most beautiful temples – you need to take a small boat to get there, and there are ruins surrounded by water and palm trees to gaze at.
The Temple of Isis is said to have been a frequent haunt of Cleopatra, who sought guidance from the Goddess.
3. Nile tour and overnight stay
Memphis Tours offers a variety of Egypt tour packages, including overnight Nile River cruises (learned more about them on Memphis Tours). I think this is an unforgettable experience, although it is a beaten track and turistan activity (you don’t see locals doing this). In a way, sailing on its waters is like repeating the ancient Egyptian route that was followed for so many centuries by the ancient Egyptian economy, geography, history, and religion.
4. Karnak Temple
This is another tour that is unmissable in Luxor as well. The temple’s numbers are even more intriguing when we examine it before getting to the ruins. It’s numbers again. It took almost two thousand years to complete the temple because each pharaoh and dynasty attached an extra part to it, and, since the parade of egos has been around since then, each wanted their part to be more extravagant than the rest.
5. The black desert and white desert
My favorite trip to Egypt was to the black desert and the white desert when I lived there. I will always remember the white and black deserts as my most memorable experiences in Egypt. They are lesser known when we talk about this amazing country. In this region of the Sahara Desert, which belongs to the Lybic desert, many organizations offer excursions.
You can find these tour operators directly in Cairo or in Bahariya, where the “adventure” towards the white desert and black desert begins. Travel there in spring or fall is recommended, as the nights in winter can be freezing and the days sweltering in summer. My Egyptian colleagues recommended me to contact directly a person who organizes these excursions directly (the prices were very interesting and I can find the coordinates if necessary). I had to get to Bawiti on my own: I took a bus from the Cairo bus station and it took me at least 4 hours to drive more than 300 kilometers.
We arrived at the oasis at the end of the day, the guide took care of us in his 4×4 and we enjoyed 2 days of pleasure in the black desert than in the white desert. In our case, it was a night start, and it was impressive: our guide drove in the dark, without GPS or compass, and he managed to find his way. He stops, breaks a few carpets on the floor, and it was actually our bed that was all ready for a first night in the stars…
The three best reasons to visit Dahab are diving, cycling, and the food! You decide the order! This is what I explain: Dahab is a tiny town on the Sinai Peninsula, near the Red Sea. It is a seaside town, with a relaxed, colorful vibe, but it lacks the luxurious (and impersonal) grandeur of its famous neighbor, Sharm-El-Sheik, due to its size.
Egypt has tons of interesting places to visit, but the 6 places above are your first step to exploring the land of the pharaohs.

A visit to Stone Town is a must if you are a fan of Freddy Mercury. The best way to learn about Freddie is to go to his house or to the bar for a drink.
